The Green Thumb

So here's something some of you don't know about me. I love to garden!!! I love being out in the garden, and taking care of things. Last year I only had a small garden of tomatoes, peas, lettuce, zucchini, peppers, cucumbers, melon and carrots. Our zucchini and tomato plants provided enough to supply us and most of our neighbours. Thankfully my wife enjoys gardening as well. She is more into flowers, which is nice for the front of the house.

This year I have two gardens. In one garden I have potatoes, garlic, onions, carrots, corn, beans, lettuce, peas and asparagus. My other garden has tomatoes, peppers, asparagus, and soon will have hot peppers, cucumbers and maybe some melons. We also have in our gardens blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries. I can hardly wait till everything grows!!!! It's going to be an amazing year for veggies and fruits around here. I also have a lemon tree and a lime tree!!! They are pretty sweet!!! They can only be outside in the summer, so I have them in pots so I can bring them at the end of the summer.

This year hasn't been that good of a year for growing things for whatever reason. I've had all my cucumbers die, and all but two of my pepper plants. The corn is doing really well, and so is the lettuce, and the peas are doing pretty good. We also have two grapes that we just put in this year, and they both seem to be doing well.

My wife has been busy gardening this year, she has three gardens full of flowers. She also has four flower pots full of flowers. She has roses, mini daphodills, pansies, honeysuckles, lillies, hydrangas, clematis', lavender, sweetpeas, and a whole bunch of other flowers who's names I couldn't tell you.

The Kashuba Residence

The Living Room
The Dinning Room/Kitchen

This is our house!!! We live on the top floor and we have renters that live on the bottom floor. And when I say this is our house, I mean this is the house we are renting from Anetha's parents. We live in a great neighbourhood. We have approximatley 50 plus kids in the two cul-de-sac development that we live in. We have 15 kids in our cul-de-sac, and all but two of them are under the age of 10. Sometimes everyone in the cul-de-sac gets together and has a BBQ or a fire or something. We always play cards with the renters from downstairs, Neil and Jen, who have two sons Nathan(4) and Ben(2), and the people from two doors down, Mark and Jill, and Clint and Marion, who have one boy and one girl Ethan(6) and Tanaya(4). They are also all Christians, the above mentioned couples, and we all get together, with some added couples, and have a dinner/bible study every monday. We have been completly blessed by were we have been placed!!!

Okay, the house we live in now, didn't have a finished basement. So, we decided along with her parents and my parents, to finish the basement to rent out. We had to drywall all the walls, paint, put the flooring on, put up cabinets, the baseboards, and all the fixtures, tile and cabinets in the bathroom. It took a lot of work, especially since we both worked so much. But once we got it finished it was worth it.

Oh yeah, we also had to finish the lawn, so we had to haul dirt, pack it, lay sod, put in underground sprinklers!!! At least it wasn't too busy this year!!
